Big Brother 9: is you watching?
Thursday, May 22nd, 2008BB9 promises to be nastier than ever
Summertime heralds some prime sports viewing – county cricket, and either the World Cup/European Football Championship every two years, and the Olympic Games. However in recent years, we’ve seen the rise of a perhaps unorthodox form of spectator sport – Big Brother.
It’s getting close to the date again where water cooler chat will be dominated by antics of what people only known by their given first names got up to in the house last night. Channel 4 have just begun running teaser shots of the Eye of Sauron-style logo in between ad breaks; the new shiny Big Brother logo is the familiar emblem made up from fragments of broken glass.

According to shouty presentress Davina McCall, who, contrary to rumour, will be returning for this series, Big Brother is going to be much tougher on contestants than it has been in the past:
“Big Brother is no longer going to be lenient in any way, shape or form. If there’s any kind of rule breaking, they’re going to come down on them like a ton of bricks.
“They’re basically gonna make housemates suffer a bit more, which will be a good thing, I think.”
We couldn’t agree more. After the spectacularly bad Shilpa Shetty palaver was followed up by the epic fail of Peaches Geldof clone Emily Parr last year, it’s about time Big Brother started dishing out serious whup ass for infractions.
The show could be livened up by the producers spiking the water supply with caffeine so that no-one gets any sleep, and then releasing funnel-web spiders into the house in the dead of night. Ninja assassins could stealthily descend from the ceiling when contestants are asleep to administer wet willies and sock beatings before slinking off into the shadows.
Maybe that’s a bit too much. Or is it? What would you like to see happen to any of the 16 housemates who err on the rules this summer?

The few previous big brothers where pretty disappointed after pete, lea walker and such in my opinion. My Fav one was with mikosi, max, saskia and all the rest of those guys. That was the most entertaining, i watched that one obsessively lol.
I might watch BB9 launch, but if BB don’t come up with some ‘right off the bat’ twists I think they’ll lose alot of their viewers.

I too always make a point of watching the first episode, if only so I know who everyone is talking about for the next three months!
I agree, the one with Mikosi was probably one of the more memorable ones. The last season was particularly poor. I’m glad that Emily left/got kicked out almost straight away. She was a tool.

I think Channel 4’s clever editing and public humiliation in the national press is punishment enough.
Do these plankton realise they are condemning themselves as unemployable pariahs for at least 3 post-BB years???
Surely the tale of ‘nice toff boy chest shaving Tim’ was warning enough!!!! the poor little over tanned, over dyed, over rated twerp had to emigrate in the end!……I shed a small tear

Anyone in need of a laugh should seek out Chanelle’s recent single! It’s soooo bad!!!

This series is dead in the water even before it starts for quite a few people as there is no Internet streaming 24/7 this time, Very Limited E4 coverage with no red Button, Not on Freesat etc etc. Its looking like even Virgin media Broadband customers wont get a free live stream this time !
Only people with Virgin Media cable or Sky ( Even in this case unclear if feed will be FTV or require sky subscription) are going to get any kind of real live streaming via red button and even then it appears its going to be shut off during any BB program (BBLB,BBBM etc) !

It would be good if you could watch online, choose what camera/angle you watch it through etc.
Dunno if Virgin Media are going to sponsor this year after the racism fiasco.

I’d love to be watching it, but with no internet feed, and only one TV in our family, I can’t
I’m really cross that C4 aren’t providing it this year..its not BB without being able to watch as and when we want. I doubt I’ll bother much this year, its been totally ruined for me.

Interesting ziggy. But can you imagine 3 or 4 million people at once trying to access the same cameras. Impossible, but would be good.
