Setanta Sports to show upcoming British qualifiers

Setanta Sports have today announced their securing of the rights to broadcast all of the upcoming England 2010 World Cup qualifiers ‘Live and Exclusive’ for a cool £5million.

The qualifiers, which include the crucial grudge match against the Croatian side who booted England out of the group stages of Euro 2008, will be broadcast on flagship channel Setanta Sports 1, along with tomorrow’s match against Andorra in Barcelona, and, on the 15th of October, another away game against Belarus in Minsk.

The following is taken direct from the Setanta Sports PR mouthpiece:

  • Andorra v England – Saturday, September 6th from 6.30pm. Live from the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona, Fabio Capello’s team will be hoping for a victory to kick-start their quest for qualification to the tournament in South Africa.
  • Croatia v England – Wednesday, September 10th from 6.30pm. The true test of England’s World Cup campaign is only on Setanta. England will be looking for revenge against a talented Croatia side that beat them home and away in the Euro 2008 qualifiers.
  • Belarus v England – Saturday, October 15th. Setanta are on the road with England again as they travel to Minsk to face another difficult away tie against Belarus. Another must see game only on Setanta Sports.

In addition to this, Setanta Sports will also be broadcasting the “potentially crucial” Ukraine v England fixture on the 10th of October 2009, and a brace of other qualifiers including:

Macedonia v Scotland, 6th September, 2pm
Slovakia v Northern Ireland, 6th September, 4.30pm
Russia v Wales, 10th September, 4pm
Montenegro v Rep. of Ireland, 10th September, 6pm
Iceland v Scotland, 10th September, 7.30pm
