ITN joins TV and radio site Livestation

Monday, October 20th, 2008

The news and content producer ITN has joined the broadband TV and radio broadcasting platform, Livestation in a deal which the website’s CEO has called “perfect”.

ITN’s broadband and mobile content supplier ITN On will broadcast the latest national and international news as a well as showbiz and sports content through Livestation on a dedicated 24-hour channel – the only one of its kind in the UK.

In a press release, Livestation’s chief executive Matteo Berlucchi expressed his delight at the new partnership:

“ITN On is a perfect partner for Livestation, with its continually updated news summaries and top sports, entertainment and business news,” he said.

“It’s an ideal addition for the growing choice of news perspectives offered via Livestation. We’ve particularly enjoyed working in partnership with the team at ITN On to make this happen and are confident that Livestation viewers will value our latest addition.”

ITN joins a growing number of Livestation content providers including Al Jazeera, the BBC and Bloomberg as well as European news channels Deutsche Welle, Euronews, France 24 and Russia Today.

The managing director of ITN On, Nicholas Wheeler, said that the partnership would offer excellent commercial opportunities while adding to the breadth of Livestation’s current content output:

“As a platform focussed on news, it makes sense for ITN On to stream our channel on Livestation. It offers us a great opportunity to expand our business and brand globally. We also believe users will see the real benefit in viewing a made-for-broadband news channel over linear TV models online.”

ITN On was the first UK firm to create made-for-mobile news and weather channels, launching mobile video news with 3 mobile. The company also has partnerships with Vodafone, 3 and T-Mobile as well as online operators such as Yahoo!, MSN, YouTube and Bebo.
