Keanu Reeves in John Wick

The planned John Wick spin-off TV series has been given a working title.

Named ‘The Continental’, the series is due to delve into the wider world of the films and won't focus on the main character himself.

The John Wick films follow a deadly assassin who comes out of retirement when he suffers a personal tragedy.

The second film has recently been released on home media, with a third film in the works alongside the TV series.

The Continental will tell the story of the hotel that John Wick visits in the films, which acts as a base for the secret world of assassins.

The series will expand the setting to be a chain of hotels across the world, with director Chad Stahelski claiming he has big plans to expand the John Wick universe.

“They’ve got a really good structure. It’s very tied to the film [in that] it’s about the Continentals all over the world, how certain people come into that world, and what happens in relation to those people, which is cool.

“I think the world is very vast, and everything I’ve heard from it is very positive. It’s something that studio seems very, very intent on [making] and very, very behind.”

Stahelski added that his commitment to the films may hamper his involvement with the show, but that he would like to direct some of the episodes.

He also said that series star Keanu Reeves may also show up in some capacity.

You can watch the first John Wick movie on Amazon Prime Video now.
