A second season of Netflix Original Series GLOW has been commissioned.

The streaming giant announced today that it will be bringing the series back for another round next year, after impressions on the first were very positive.

GLOW (which stands for Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) is a comedy-drama that tells the real-life story of the all-female wrestling promotion which ran in the 80s.

The series stars Alison Brie as a down-on-her-luck actress who finds herself drawn into the strange and unusual world of professional wrestling. The series has been lauded for its darkly funny tone, genuinely impressive wrestling moves and great performances.

The news comes in spite of more Netflix programmes being cancelled, with comedy series Girlboss and sci-fi show Sense8 recently being cancelled.

Netflix has recently claimed that it was aiming to renew less shows if they’re not performing well, with the future of GLOW previously in question.

Other Netflix series are also waiting for a season 2 confirmation, with the new version of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 still not yet renewed despite fan praise.

Netflix is due to have a number of its series continue during the remainder of 2017, with The Defenders debuting later in August and the second season of Stranger Things due to hit the platform in October.

You can watch all of GLOW on Netflix right now.
