Our BT Review
BT offers viewers a combination of free-to-air TV, on demand content and premium channels, made available through a BT Broadband or BT Infinity connection in the home. Just like any other digital TV service, you use a set-top box to control what you watch.
Choose between TV Essential and TV Entertainment, and you can add content to your viewing package, such as Sky Movies, or just stick with the free-to-air channels shown on Freeview, like BBC One, BBC Two, ITV1, Channel 4 and Channel 5.
You can pause, rewind and record live TV with the YouView box which comes with your BT TV, and get access to the popular on demand service BBC iPlayer, through your TV.
The exclusive live sport from BT Sport is also available for free to BT customers with a broadband package, and these channels feature some of the best action from the Barclays Premier League.
BT TV offers an extensive library of on demand content, as well as the option to add HD viewing to your package, which will provide a selection of channels in high definition. BT Customers will need an HD-ready TV in order to watch in high definition, as well as the TV Entertainment pack in order to add extra HD channels beyond the free-to-air ones.
Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 can be added to the monthly subscription for an additional cost, and these channels offer a range of different sports including Barclays Premier League football, Rugby League and golf.

BT TV Services
The BT TV service provides free-to-air digital TV channels, along with a wide selection of on demand content and the option of some other subscription-only premium channels. There are different packages to choose from, and the set-top box lets you pause, rewind and record live TV. BT TV lets you access BBC’s popular iPlayer from your TV, along with similar catch-up services from the other major free-to-air channels ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5.
BT also provides a broadband and calls service, and in order to get BT TV, you will need a BT Broadband or BT Infinity connection in your home with a minimum term agreement. You will also need the BT Home Hub, but this is included when you get BT TV, and you will need the YouView+ box, as well as an operational rooftop aerial.
There are various broadband packages available for BT’s web connection service, and each one is combined with a calls package. If you simply wanted home phone with BT then you can get a calls package without any other services in place. BT has its own landline service which you pay for monthly, and you need this in place for broadband, phone and the BT TV digital TV service.
You can order BT TV online and choose your ideal subscription from the selection of viewing packages.
BT TV Channels
With BT TV you can get the Freeview and digital radio stations, so this includes BBC One, BBC Two, ITV1, Channel 4 and Channel 5. You will also get the popular sister stations like BBC Three, BBC Four, ITV2, E4 and Film4, all with the added picture quality of digital.
Whilst BT TV offers the free-to-air channels, it is very different from Freeview; you can access on demand and catch-up content through your set-top box and broadband connection. The BT TV service lets you download from a library of content, and this is stored on the YouView box. You can pause, rewind and record live TV, so you can control the Freeview channels whilst you are watching them. If you need to record something whilst you are out, or want to watch a good bit again, you can use the remote for these useful functions.
Each package gives you the Freeview channels, but they can differ in terms of the inclusive on demand content. You need to have a BT Broadband or Infinity connection to get BT TV, and you can choose from two packages.
BT TV Packages
Customers can choose BT TV with Broadband, or BT TV with Infinity. Both options include the Freeview channels available in your area, as well as access to free-to-air catch-up, such as BBC iPlayer, ITV Player and 4OD and over 12,000 shows and music videos on demand.
BT TV with Broadband includes the standard broadband home connection, with BT Sport 1 and 2 available online, for a range of great sport including live Barclays Premier League. You have a choice of broadband usage limits, and up to 16Mb broadband speed.
BT TV with Infinity delivers great digital TV with superfast broadband. You have the option to add extra channels, enhancing your viewing pack, and sports fans can add Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 for groundbreaking sports coverage, including exclusive live Barclays Premier League football, international and domestic cricket and Super League rugby.
BT Infinity customers get the exclusive action from BT Sport 1 and 2 available to view on their TV.
The BT Infinity deal provides up to 38Mb or up to 76Mb download speeds, with the option to take unlimited usage as well.
