Top 5 Sky Box Sets | September 2019

Here's the best of what's available to watch in September.

Sky Box Sets features a huge range of TV series from all over the world, allowing Sky TV customers to get stuck into every episode of a number of shows. Sky Box Sets lets you watch your chosen show from beginning to end, so there's no waiting around for the next season to be uploaded. Viewers can watch whenever they want on-demand, via TV or mobile device. This is ideal for watching one episode at a time or bingeing a whole series at once. With so much choice on offer, it can be hard to pinpoint the essential Sky Box Sets viewing. Here's our pick of the best.

Succession

This blistering comedy/drama from Jesse Armstrong (one of the creators of Peep Show) stars Brian Cox as the patriarch of the dysfunctional Roy family, owners of a global media empire, who tussle for power amidst his failing health. Matthew Macfadyen, Kieran Culkin and Nicholas Braun also feature as members of the family.

Succession is darkly hilarious and always twisted, with fantastic performances complementing the cutting dialogue and one-liners. Succession is the world’s most talked-about TV show, with its second season just beginning on Sky Atlantic. Catch up and get involved with the conversion this August on Sky Box Sets.

Euphoria

This dark and energetic series breaks down the boundaries of your average teen drama, managed to be much more compelling than the likes of Skins or Riverdale. Starring Zendaya (who you probably know from the most recent Spider-Man movies), the series follows a group of American high school students as they navigate a world of sex, drugs, love and trauma.

Euphoria is a surprisingly entertaining and interesting watch, with a second season now confirmed to be on the way. You can catch the entire first season now via Sky Box Sets.

The Night Of

This thrilling drama stars Riz Ahmed as a man accused of the murder of a woman he spent the night with, with John Turturro starring as his lawyer. The Night Of received critical acclaim when it was first released in 2016, and is still one of the best mini-series HBO has ever released.

If you’re a fan of the likes of Chernobyl and are looking for more shows that you don’t have to watch for 5 seasons, The Night Of comes highly recommended. The performances are excellent across the board and the script is so gripping that you’ll likely binge through it.

The Wire

This legendary crime drama was one of the big shows that changed TV forever, alongside The Sopranos. The Wire follows the struggles of Baltimore DEA agents as they fight the never-ending war on drugs in the city, with the show’s portrayal of urban life being a revolutionary thing for TV.

The Wire is one of the most critically acclaimed shows of all time, though many people still haven't seen it. Now’s the time to catch up and see what the fuss is about via Sky Box Sets.

Penny Dreadful

Penny Dreadful draws upon a huge amount of public domain horror characters such as Frankenstein, Dorian Grey, Dracula and Van Helsing to create a blend of horror and drama. Starring Timothy Dalton, Eva Green and Josh Hartnett, the series utilises a solid cast and engaging writing to offer a gripping dark fantasy.

Finished before its time (much like Deadwood), Penny Dreadful is still worth a watch if you’re interested in classic horror characters. A spin-off series, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, is set to be released next year, making now the ideal time to catch up in preparation.
