First trailer for Riverdale and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina crossover

Despite existing in the same universe, characters from the two shows have never interacted up until now.

US network The CW has unveiled the first trailer for its upcoming Riverdale and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina crossover.

The five-episode event, which currently doesn’t have a release date here in the UK, will serve as the beginning of its sixth season.

The minute-long clip suggests that Sabrina’s (Kiernan Shipka) appearance in Riverdale will be tied into Cheryl’s (Madelaine Petsch) new dive into the supernatural.

Following the events of the season 5 which saw the latter discover that one of her ancestors was burnt at the stake for being a witch, she's shown commanding her very own coven.

Entertainment site E! has revealed that Sabrina is set to arrive in the fourth episode which will see Cheryl trying a spell that “may mean the difference between life and death for a beloved member of the Blossom family."

We see that the rest of Riverdale are also having to deal with the supernatural as Veronica (Camila Mendes) and Reggie (Charles Melton) seemingly encounter the devil and Toni (Vanessa Morgan) runs into a monstrously huge, cloaked figure.

It’s also confirmed that Archie (K.J Apa) and girlfriend Betty (Lili Reinhart) survived the bomb blast at the end of last season and are now considering starting a family.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina ran for two seasons split into four parts from 2018 to 2020 before being cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

You can stream seasons 1 to 5 of Riverdale and the entirety of Sabrina on Netflix now.
