Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul will be joining the cast of HBO’s critically-acclaimed sci-fi epic Westworld for its upcoming third season.
For the moment, details regarding his role are being kept tightly under wraps but Deadline has confirmed that he’ll be series regular, suggesting that it’ll be a fairly important one.
With the second ten-episode season only ending in June, not much is currently known about the third season of Westworld in general.
None of the main cast have officially confirmed their return, although Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton and Jeffrey Wright are presumably a given, and co-creator Lisa Joy recently stated that she’s got “no idea” of an official release date.
After initially finding fame on Vince Gilligan’s crime-drama, Paul went onto play the lead on US-only streaming site Hulu’s original series The Path and currently voices human slacker Todd Chavez in Netflix’s animated comedy-drama Bojack Horseman.
He’s also set to appear in tech giant Apple’s 2019 original series Are You Sleeping? alongside Octavia Spencer and Lizzy Caplan as a convicted murderer who’s become the subject of a popular Serial-like podcast series.
Originally a 1973 film starring Yul Brenner, Westworld tells the story of a futuristic theme park populated by humanoid robots (or hosts) who slowly start to rebel against the human visitors and staff.
It was adapted for TV by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy and first debuted back in 2016 to absolutely glowing reviews across the board.
