American Horror Story will crossover 2 previous storylines for its 8th seasons.
Series creator Ryan Murphy said via Twitter that the next season of the show will crossover the Coven and Murder House storylines, a first for the show.
American Horror Story is an anthology series with each season following a new storyline.
There has been speculation as to what the next season would entail, with the title Radioactive being rumoured - suggesting that there would be a nuclear war-based setting.
A crossover season was also rumoured but was thought to be planned for a later season than season 8.
How this season will be done is a question fans have raised in the wake of the announcement, with the show using many of the same actors every season - making a crossover potentially difficult to film.
Fans have also speculated as to whether series favourite Jessica Lange will return to the show to her roles in Murder House and Coven. Lange left the series after season 4 (Freak Show) and has not appeared since.
Stars already confirmed to return include Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Joan Collins, Evan Peters and Cheyenne Jackson.
There’s not yet been a release date for American Horror Story, though you’d expect the usual Autumn spot.
Ryan Murphy is one of the busiest writers in the TV world at the moment, juggling 2 different shows in American Horror Story and American Crime Story as well as recently signing a big-money deal with Netflix to produce original content.
You can watch the first 6 seasons of American Horror Story, including Murder House and Coven, on Netflix right now.
