The new season of Arrested Development will launch on Netflix May 29th.

The streaming service announced the release date alongside a new trailer showing us what we can expect from the Bluth family in season 5.

The series was revived by Netflix in 2013 after it was cancelled in 2006. Fans have had to wait another 5 years for a 5th season to emerge.

Season 4 of the show was less well received than previous seasons, despite fans being happy that it made a return.

Part of the criticism around season 4 was based on the fact that none of the characters really interested that much, something that is apparently being rectified for season 5.

Arrested Development follows the antics of the Bluths, a dysfunctional family in California fronted by the exasperated Michael Bluth who tries to keep them all together.

All of the major characters are returning for the 5th season, including Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, Michael Cera and Jeffry Tambor (whose participation had been in doubt after he was fired from Amazon series Transparent).

In order to get audiences prepared for season 5, Netflix has released a new version of the 4th season, edited by series creator Mitch Hurwitz.

This “remixed” version addresses the problems fans had with the season, cutting out some of the content in order to create shorter episodes.

You can watch all 4 seasons of Arrested Development on Netflix right now.
