Ash vs. Evil Dead season 3 may not see the light of day until 2018, its star has claimed.

Bruce Campbell, who plays the titular Ash, said in a recent interview that the show may not return until next year, despite the fact that production has already finished.

The previous 2 seasons of the series aired in October of 2015 and 2016 respectively, with fans expecting that season 3 would follow suit.

Starz, the network the show is aired, hasn’t yet announced the release date for the upcoming episodes, with many fans speculating that this means it will air later.

Bruce Campbell was asked in an interview about the release date, where he claimed he didn’t know either.

“When you hear the date, let me know. Starz has said a couple different things, about possibly shifting the premiere date to try and get a cleaner slot within the year. So we don’t know. It’ll either be Fall or first quarter 2018… is my guess.”

Ash vs. Evil Dead is a spin-off of of the original Evil Dead series of horror films, which saw Ash fight hordes of evil that spawned from a demonic book known as the Necronomicon.

The Evil Dead films are classics in the horror genre, with the series being renowned for its blend of gory violence and wry sense of humour.

A new Evil Dead film was released in 2013, but had little relation to the previous films beyond the grotesque gore effects and a small cameo from Campbell.

You can watch Evil Dead (2013) on Netflix right now.
