Black Mirror season 5 delayed

Black Mirror is still set for 2019.

Season 5 of Netflix series Black Mirror has been delayed.

The sci-fi/horror anthology series did not yet have a release date for its fifth season, though it will now come later than expected.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the reason for the delay is down to the amount of time it took to create Bandersnatch, the recently released Black Mirror film that makes use of Netflix’s interactive technology to create a choose-your-own-adventure-style narrative.

In March 2018, Netflix announced that more Black Mirror would be “on the way”, with Bandersnatch acting as a teaser for the rest of the season.

Despite the gimmick of the feature-length episode, it is expected that the full season of the show will not include any extra features, and will instead just be standard episodes.

This will be the third season of Black Mirror to be produced by Netflix after it bought the rights from Channel 4.

Black Mirror is created by Charlie Brooker, who was previously a TV critic before he went into TV himself.

You can catch up on all of Black Mirror - including Bandersnatch - on Netflix now.
