Amazon has partnered with production company Blumhouse to create a number of new films.

Blumhouse will work with Amazon to produce at least 8 original horror films that will be available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.

Blumhouse is in the process of expanding its productions by branching into television, though Amazon has said that these projects will be feature-length.

Amazon Studios chief Jennifer Salke said that Jason Blum was part of a new horror generation.

“Jason Blum has built an empire based on fear, shock and all things spine-tingling. He has redefined the horror genre for fans who are hungry for high concept scares. Whether it’s found footage, a socially conscious terror comedy or a pure sinister adrenaline ride, he reinvented and infused the genre with cultural relevancy.”

Blumhouse is responsible for funding a number of high-profile horror hits, including Get Out and the latest Halloween movie.

Amazon has claimed that it will be finding a diverse set of filmmakers in order to direct the 8 movies.

Jason Blum, founder of the company, said that he was thrilled to have Amazon on board to create the new films.

“We are delighted Amazon is entrusting Blumhouse to deliver its signature thrills and chills to its global audience through this deal.

“This is a great opportunity for Blumhouse Television to empower underrepresented filmmakers offering a fresh take on the dark genres loved by fans the world over.”

Whilst there’s not yet any timeframe of when we’ll see these films start to release, Amazon claims that production is due to start very soon.
