A pilot for a potential Bourne Identity series has been ordered by USA Network.
The series, reportedly titled Treadstone, is set to be a prequel for the Bourne series of films, which saw Matt Damon’s black ops operative attempt to evade the organisation that created him.
Treadstone will be written by Heroes creator Tim Kring alongside Ramin Bahrani, who directed the upcoming HBO film Fahrenheit 451.
A series based on Robert Ludlum's novels was previously planned by US network CBS, but never came to fruition.
Treadstone is part of USA’s long list of recently order pilots, which includes Briarpatch, Dare Me and Erase.
Briarpatch is based on the Ross Thomas novel of the same name and will follow an investigator who returns to her small Texan hometown after her sister is killed by a car bomb.
Dare Me is based on the novel by Megan Abbott and is a coming-of-age story about high school cheerleading.
Erase is a crime thriller about a dirty cop who decides to turn against his complicit superiors when he develops early-onset Alzheimer's.
Whilst there’s no guarantee these pilots will turn into full series, USA will be hoping for its next big thing to spawn from at least one of them.
