DC and Warner Bros. Animation have released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming adult-themed animated Harley Quinn series.
The clip sees Quinn (voiced by The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco) lounging in a cell at Arkham Asylum with fellow supervillain Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) before breaking the fourth wall and turning to address the viewer directly.
Lots of humour, action and “gratuitous violence” are promised as she also takes shots at Donald Glover's cancelled Deadpool cartoon and the overly gritty nature of DC's cinematic universe.
Written by Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker and Dean Lorey, the rest of the talented vioice cast includes Alan Tudyk, Happy's Chris Meloni, Wanda Sykes, Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito, Ron Funches and JB Smoove.
Harley Quinn will consist of 26 half-an-hour episodes and will be released on DC's own streaming service DC Universe.
It's yet to be confirmed if the platform will ever be available internationally or, as with Titains, Netflix will pick up some of the content for distrubution.
No official premiere date has been confirmed but it’s expected to arrive sometime in 2019.
