The fantasy series will return in Spring 2019.

Game of Thrones will return next April, HBO has announced.

The 8th and final season of the series will debut in April in both the US and the UK, with the episodes being shown a day after on Sky Atlantic.

A new trailer, which shows shots from previous seasons, announced the April release without showing a specific date.

Game of Thrones is an epic fantasy series based on the Song of Ice and Fire novels and is still one of the most popular TV shows currently airing.

The final season is set to bring in massive viewing figures, with HBO planning a number of spinoffs in order to keep the brand going.

The first of these, The Long Night, is confirmed to star Naomi Watts and will be a prequel set thousands of years before the events of the main series.

The ending of season 7 saw the White Walkers finally cross over the wall with their very own dragon in tow, setting up season 8 to be a CGI battle-heavy affair.

You’ll be able to watch Game of Thrones when it returns via Sky Atlantic and NOW TV Entertainment.
