Game of Thrones has won Outstanding Drama Series at last night’s Emmy Awards.
The fantasy drama beat shows like The Crown, The Americans and The Handmaid’s Tale to win its 3rd Best Drama award.
The ceremony saw awards handed out to a variety of shows and actors, with no one drama series sweeping the event as is normal.
Netflix shows received a number of plaudits, with Merritt Wever and Jeff Daniels winning Best Supporting Actress and Actor respectively for Godless and Charlie Brooker taking home Outstanding Writing for the Black Mirror episode USS Callister.
In terms of comedy, Amazon Original Series The Marvellous Mrs Maisel dominated the competition, with the series winning 5 awards.
Fans of shows like Twin Peaks and The Americans have claimed that the shows have been snubbed in favour of more populist options like Game of Thrones and Westworld.
Star of The Americans, Matthew Rhys, did, however, win Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
The second season of American Crime Story also enjoyed a few victories, with Darren Criss winning Best Lead Actor in A Limited Series, Ryan Murphy winning for directing and the show itself winning Best Limited Series.
In a weirdly meta turn of events, the Oscar Award ceremony won Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special.
