The air date for the new series of Great British Bake Off has been announced.
The new series of the smash-hit baking competition will air on Channel 4 on Tuesday, August 28th, meaning that fans of the show have to wait less than two weeks for its return.
This will be the second series of The Great British Bake Off to air on Channel 4, after the channel outbid the BBC for the rights in 2016.
The series tests the skills of amateur bakers with celebrity chefs Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith acting as judges.
GBBO hosts Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding will also return for the series after replacing Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc, who declined to follow the show to Channel 4.
Whilst its expected to be business as usual for the show which is now entering its 9th series, judge Paul Hollywood recently shed some light as to what we can expect from the upcoming episodes, claiming that it will be “going back to basics”.
"Sometimes it's not just about the bakers in the tent, it's about the people in the UK who watch the programme. We want to encourage the viewers to bake.
"And it's worked, thus far. Everyone's got the baking bug, at some level."
Presenter Noel Fielding also commented, saying that there was less pressure thanks to viewers taking to both him and Sandi Toksvig in the first Channel 4 series.
"We were under an enormous amount of pressure to not ruin this sacred show that everyone loved. So we weren't as worried about the bakers, we were just trying to make sure we didn't destroy our own careers."
If you’ve never see GBBO before, you can catch up on the first 7 series on Netflix right now.
