Netflix has confirmed that Jessica Jones will return for a 3rd season.
The superhero private eye will return for a new season of the Netflix series of Marvel shows, which also includes Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Punisher.
The announcement comes just weeks after the release of season 2, which was watched by millions of Netflix subscribers.
A potential 3rd season has been rumoured for a long time, even before season 2 aired, with the confirmation suggesting we’ll see the return of Jessica sooner rather than later.
There had been some speculation as to whether Marvel would move it original series across to its much-rumoured streaming platform along with a number of Disney-owned properties.
Now it appears that Netflix will continue to host the Marvel series, with Daredevil and Luke Cage set to hit the platform later this year.
Season 2 wasn’t as well received as the first, with fans pointing to the lack of strong villain being one of the issues.
David Tennant’s Kilgrave was the big highlight of the first season, with the character returning to haunt Jessica in flashbacks during the second season.
There are a few hints as to where season 3 could head, with Jessica’s friend Trish’s new-found superpowers suggesting that we may see an appearance from Hellcat.
There is some speculation that Luke Cage will also return to the show after he was a central character in season 1.
Despite crossovers in the Marvel TV world, the directors of Avengers: Infinity War have recently come out to say that a crossover between the TV and movie characters would be “practically impossible” due to the different styles and tones.
You can watch seasons 1 and 2 of Jessica Jones as well as all of Netflix’s Marvel series right now.
