Netflix has released new images of the upcoming new season of political thriller House of Cards.

The fifth season of the show is expected to be released on Netflix in around a month’s time, with the streaming giant giving fans a taste with the new images.

House of Cards follows ruthless politician Frank Underwood as he schemes his way into becoming President using criminal means.

The images show Underwood, played by Kevin Spacey, with his wife Claire (Robin Wright) reunited after their marriage hit the rocks in the previous seasons.

We also see Frank’s political enforcer Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) and his election opponent Will Conway (Joel Kinnaman).

Season 4 saw Frank abandon a military hostage in the middle of an election race, with fans eager to see how it will unfold.

Season 5 will be the first without series creator and showrunner Beau Willimon, who has now left the show.

Series writers Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese have taken over as showrunners, so the upcoming season will be a test to see if the show can continue.

House of Cards has been a big success for Netflix since it began in 2013, with the strength of Kevin Spacey’s performance being cited as a major reason.

House of Cards returns to Netflix on May 30th. You can stream the previous 4 seasons right now.
