Netflix has ordered a new series featuring Indonesian actor Iko Uwais.
Wu Assassins will be the platform’s first martial arts series and will initially run for 10 episodes.
Uwais will star as Kai Jin, an inspiring chef in San Francisco's Chinatown who gets embroiled in a battle between assassins.
The actor and martial artist is best known for the Raid action films as well as his cameo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (where he inexplicably did not play a Jedi).
As well as acting in the series, Uwais will also take the role of lead stunt coordinator. Falling Skies’ John Wirth is the showrunner and executive producer.
Little is known about the series as it’s still in early production, but it’s set to be another big-budget series for the streaming service and will probably be released in 2019.
Netflix has continued to expand its range of original content, with the first half of 2018 seeing some big shows come to the platform.
Subscribers have been able to enjoy second seasons of Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and GLOW alongside new series like The Staircase, Dark and Wild Wild Country.
Later in the year will see Bojack Horseman and Orange is the New Black return to the platform alongside Coen Brothers mini-series The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.
