Netflix has released the first trailer for Marvel’s new Defenders series.

The upcoming series combines all 4 of Marvel’s shows which it has produced with Netflix, in much the same way as the Avengers films.

The Defenders sees the characters Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist come together to protect New York from a new menace, played by Sigourney Weaver.

The trailer shows off the characters meeting for the first time and getting involved in what’s now a traditional prolonged scrap in a hallway.

The series is due to air on Netflix on August 18th, only a few months after the debut of the Iron Fist series.

Iron Fist saw huge viewing figures on its debut but ultimately disappointed, with critics claiming the formula had become tired.

Marvel will be hoping to pull it back with this latest installment, which will only run for 8 episodes instead of the standard 13.

As well as The Defenders, The Punisher is also due to get his own series at some point this year, with follow-ups to Jessica Jones and Daredevil in the works as well.

The Marvel series are just a few of Netflix’s planned original content for this year, with a new season of House of Cards due at the end of May.

You can catch up with all the Marvel series on Netflix right now.
