Nicole Kidman has said that fans should not expect a second season of Big Little Lies.
During a Variety video where she talked with Moulin Rouge co-star Ewan McGregor, Kidman shut down any idea of the second outing for the series.
Kidman said there were no current plans for a return to the show, which aired on HBO and Sky Atlantic earlier this year.
Liane Moriarty, author of the novel the series is based on, said that she was thinking about ways the series will continue, but Kidman says that the series would not continue beyond the book.
"It was a book so it was pretty finite. We got the taste for it, so we're like, 'Oh, what a pity'. You never know, you always hope, but there's no story, there's absolutely no prospects right now."
Moriarty said she was asked by producers to come up with a second season, but that nothing had been set in stone yet.
"The producers have asked me to see if I can come up with some ideas. I wouldn't write a new book but perhaps a new story and then we'll see what happens.
"I'm absolutely open to it because, once I started thinking, it was too much fun to see what I could do and to see these characters again. And there's definitely places you can go."
Big Little Lies starred Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley and Laura Dern and follows 3 mothers in suburban California as they stoop to new lows to stop their lives from unravelling.
The series was very well received with viewers praising the performances and the mystery of the show.
