Netflix has announced when Orange is the New Black will return for its fifth season.
The whole fifth season of the prison drama/comedy will hit the streaming service on Friday, June 9th.
Orange is the New Black revolves around happenings of a minimum-security women’s prison, where main character Piper has to spend a year due to a crime she committed in her past.
Season four of the show ended on a tantalising cliffhanger, with the inmates leading a charge against the establishment after the cover-up of the death of their friend.
Fans have been waiting to see what will happen in the show’s fifth season, with a teaser trailer suggesting that it will be the most intense yet.
Danielle Brooks, who plays Taystee in the show, revealed last month that the season would take place over the course of three days.
“It will be very detailed, very intense. You better get ready, get your popcorn, your tissues,” she added.
The show has proved the be Netflix’s most popular property since it’s initial release in 2013, with it paving the way for the huge amount of original content on the platform.
Orange is the New Black has won a number of awards, the most recent of which being Best Comedy Ensemble at the Screen Actor’s Guild awards.
You can catch season five of Orange is the New Black on June 9th, with seasons one to four available to stream on Netflix right now.
