The comic series is back this summer.

Season 3 of AMC series Preacher has been given a premiere date.

The adaptation of Garth Ennis’ and Steve Dillon’s comic book series will return on June 24th on AMC, with the series returning to Amazon Prime in the UK soon after.

Alongside the release date, AMC has released a number of images as a teaser for the upcoming season.

Preacher stars Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, a priest inhabited by a spiritual being who is given the task of finding and killing God himself.

The finale of season 2 saw his group split up after repeated failed attempts to get further in their mission.

The official synopsis of season 3 suggests that the series will start to delve into Jesse’s past.

“In Season 3, Jesse Custer’s quest for God takes him back to the place he’s been avoiding his whole life: home. Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy return to Angelville, the Louisiana Plantation where Jesse was raised, and find old grudges and deadly obligations await them.  With the help of his friends — and a few enemies — Jesse will need to escape his past… because the future of the world depends on it.”

Whilst it got off to a slow start, season 2 of Preacher proved the show can offer a great version of the delightfully violent and filthy comic series.

You can watch the first 2 seasons of Preacher on Amazon Prime Video right now.
