Roald Dahl’s Tales of the Unexpected to be rebooted

The classic '70s series will return with new episodes.

A new version of Tales of the Unexpected is set to be released.

The ‘80s TV series was based on short stories from Roald Dahl and was presented by the man himself.

Now, TV production studio The Ink Factory will produce new versions of the classic tales.

Ink Factory has previously worked on the BBC/AMC co-production The Night Manager and the recent drama The Little Drummer Girl

The original Tales of the Unexpected ran from 1979 to 1988 and featured a huge number of original short stories, from both Dahl and other writers.

Simon and Stephen Cornwell, the studio heads of Ink Factory, are expected to head up a writers room and will be working closely with the Roald Dahl Story Company to produce the episodes.

With the Twilight Zone also returning (which Tales of the Unexpected was essentially a British version of), anthology TV is set to dominate the TV world even further.

The reboots will join American Horror Story, Black Mirror, True Detective and The Romanoffs as part of the new TV anthology canon.

Whilst there’s no word on where or when the series will appear, more news is expected to surface in 2019.
