Sean Bean has talked about the potential of returning to GoT via a prequel series.
In an interview, the actor said it would be difficult to return to the franchise as part of a prequel because he’s obviously older than he was when he first starred in the show.
HBO is planning a prequel series after the main show ends with next year’s 8th season, with a 2019 shooting date set.
Bean was the lead character in the first season of the show but was killed off in the last episode.
When asked about returning by The Hollywood Reporter, the actor said he was hesitant.
"I don't know how we can be. I don't know how anyone can be, since they're going backwards, I'd be younger. Now, we all look a little bit older.
"I'm always a bit reluctant to go back to shows under a different format or guise. But you never know with something like this, it just depends on the time frames. I think if the quality was maintained. You know, the kind of thought behind it, if it didn't look as though it was an add-on just to capitalize on earlier success."
With Game of Thrones set to end next year, HBO is apparently working on 5 different spin-offs to keep the show’s momentum going.
The series is based on the novels by George R.R. Martin, who has still not finished the books - meaning the show has had to overtake them.
