Sense 8 will return to Netflix for a 2-hour special after previously being cancelled.
The sci-fi thriller series, helmed by Matrix directors The Wachowskis, was thought to be finished after Netflix cancelled it after 2 seasons.
However after a huge amount of fan backlash, the creators have revealed that Netflix has commissioned a 2-hour special which will wrap up the story.
Sense8 follows 8 strangers who become psychically connected and are able to communicate with each other and use each other's’ skills.
The series has been a critical hit, garnering a large fanbase, but was cancelled by Netflix alongside a number of its original shows.
Whilst the exact reason for the cancellation is not known, some have suggested that the large cost contributed to its end, with each episode reportedly costing around $9 million to produce.
The news of the special was revealed by Lana Wachowski on Facebook, with the director saying that a 2-hour episode was “in the works”.
The final episode is due to air in 2018 as part of Netflix’s lineup, which will include new seasons of Jessica Jones, Daredevil and Luke Cage.
You can watch the first 2 seasons of Sense8 on Netflix right now.
