Sky Atlantic have officially renewed their brand-new revenge thriller Tin Star for a second season, despite the first not actually having aired yet.

The TV giant is reportedly very confident that the show will be a hit following the huge successes of other small-town set TV thrillers like Fargo and David Lynch’s brilliantly bizarre Twin Peaks which ended its critically-acclaimed third season just this week.

Tin Star feature frequent Quentin Tarantino collaborator Tim Roth as Jim Worth, the sheriff of a seemingly idyllic mountain town who embarks on a brutal campaign for revenge after his family is violently attacked.

Rounding out the supporting cast is Mad Men's Christina Hendricks as the possibly corrupt head of a local oil company, True Blood's Christopher Heyerdahl, Orphan Black's Kevin Hanchard and Star Wars' Genevieve O'Reilly.

"When Tin Star launches this week, viewers will not only experience a hugely powerful tale of revenge with captivating, uncompromising characters, but will be left in no doubt as to why a second series was an absolute must," said Anne Mensah, head of drama at Sky.

It’s Sky Atlantic's latest original series after glossy crime drama Riveria starring Julia Stiles and Game of Thrones's Iwan Rheon and period-drama Jamestown premiered earlier in the year.

All ten episodes of Tin Star are set to become available simultaneously on both Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK and Ireland from Thursday 7th September.

Sky Atlantic is free to all customers with Sky TV.
