Sky Cinema is set to launch its first animation-only channel during October.
Dubbed Sky Cinema Animation, the channel will showcase some of animation’s most popular films, including modern hits and Disney classics.
The channel is set to launch on October 14th and run for 3 weeks, giving viewers a good amount of time to check out what’s on offer.
Sky Cinema Animation will feature over 60 movies that will be broadcast live as well as available on-demand and via NOW TV.
These include new edition Sing (from the makers of Minions), 2016 smash-hit The Secret Life of Pets and the Oscar-nominated Trolls.
Viewers can also enjoy classic Disney animations including Robin Hood, Mulan and The Emperor's New Groove.
The channel coincides with the 80th anniversary of Snow White, with viewers able to watch Disney’s first ever feature-film and see the birth of the animated film genre.
Sky Cinema Animation will also be hosting special days of films throughout the month. October 31st marks ‘Family Frights Day’, where viewers can catch family-friendly spooky animations such as Frankenweenie and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
November 4th is Ice Age Day, giving viewers the chance to watch all 5 Ice Age films in a row - a move that’s bound to excite parents across the UK.
Sky Cinema Group Director, Ian Lewis, said that the channel came about due to the success of Sky Cinema Pixar earlier in the year.
“Our dedicated channels give customers the chance to delve into a genre and enjoy the best of Sky Cinema’s line-up. Our Pixar channel in March was a huge success and with animation dominating the box office with some of the biggest blockbusters over the last 12 months, we think Sky Cinema Animation will be another one that will appeal to those young and old.”
Watch Sky Cinema Animation from October 14th until November 5th.
