Sky Q's voice functions

Sky Q is introducing new voice functions and customisation features to its service.

Sky Q is Sky’s state-of-the-art TV box, allowing customers to watch content between 2 devices and make use of Ultra HD programming with the 2TB edition.

Now the service is due to add a number of new features to make the user experience even better.

Voice search will allow users to search on-demands programmes and movies by pressing the voice button on the side of the remote and saying what they’re looking for.

Saying “Liverpool game” or “Zootropolis”, for example, will direct you to the correct channel or on-demand section.

Voice search also supports more complex demands, allowing users to search films by the director or actor or even more specific requests such as “Tom Hanks movies rated five stars”.

Film buffs will even be able to search via film quotes, so saying “I’ll have what she’s having” will direct you to When Harry met Sally, for example.

Customisation features are also due to be tweaked, with the My Q section becoming the new Sky Q homepage, giving recommendations based on current viewing habits and offering a ‘Continue Watching’ option, allowing viewers to pick up where they left off with a show or film.

Users will also be able to sign into their Facebook account and watch Facebook videos on their Sky Q box.

Sky’s brand director of TV and content products commented saying that the new features would make Sky Q easier to use.

“May the force be with you” with your new voice search. Just ask Sky Q to “show me the money” by pressing the side of the touch remote, making it even easier and faster to find, discover and watch the TV you love.”
