Sky Sports has announced that it will broadcast an original series based on the Tough Mudder challenge.
Mission Mudder will air on Sky Sports Mix during the summer and is due to star 6 Olympic athletes as they take on Tough Mudder events.
Tough Mudder is an extreme endurance event that spans 12 miles of military-style obstacle courses.
The course is designed to test both physical and mental strength, with many challenges praying on fears such as heights, electricity, fire and water.
The show will follow the celebrity athletes as they traverse select events from the competition.
These include Welsh taekwondo star Jade Jones, cycling silver medalist Jess Varnish and Team GB snowboarder Aimee Fuller. Olympic boxer Anthony Fowler and judo star Ashley McKenzie will also be part of the lineup.
As well as showing the actual events, Mission Mudder will explore the athletes’ personal stories as well as their mental preparation for the challenges.
Jade Jones, double Olympic gold medalist and participant in the show, commented saying that she was looking forward to the challenge.
“The series is guaranteed to be exciting, emotional and unlike anything you have seen before. I am looking forward to the mental and physical challenge but also to working with what promises to be such a great team. Mission Mudder is a really exciting project to be a part of and I can’t wait for UK fans to follow us on our journey on Sky Sports Mix.”
Sky Sports Mix launched 6 months ago and has since broadcast 33 different sports to all Sky TV customers. Tough Mudder will be part of the channel’s lineup of extreme sports, which includes drone racing, snowboarding and cliff diving.
