Here's the best of what's available to watch in January.

The cast of Band of Brothers.

Sky Box Sets features a huge range of TV series from all over the world, allowing Sky TV customers to get stuck into every episode of a number of shows. Sky Box Sets lets you watch your chosen show from beginning to end, so there’s no waiting around for the next season to be uploaded. Viewers can watch whenever they want on-demand, via TV or mobile device. This is ideal for watching one episode at a time or bingeing a whole series at once. With so much choice on offer, it can be hard to pinpoint the essential Sky Box Sets viewing. Here’s our pick of the best.

This satirical comedy series comes from Armando Iannucci, creator of The Thick Of It and acts basically as an American version of that show. Veep starts Julia Louis-Dreyfus stars as Selina Meyer, Vice President of the US and follows her day-to-day life as she tries to get things done with an inept team and a system that’s against her.

Veep continues the hilarious improv-style and sharp political humour of The Thick Of It and gives it a US edge, with Louis-Dreyfus dynamite in the main role. Veep is a treat for comedy fans, whether you’re familiar with US politics or not.

The Affair

This US show is packed with UK talent, with Ruth Wilson and Dominic West offering powerhouse performances as two lovers engaging in an extramarital affair. The Affair sees a New York teacher meet a waitress, with the pair starting a passionate affair that has ramifications for them and their families.

This Golden Globe-winning drama offers a gripping plot mixed with brilliant acting to provide you with your next TV obsession. Wilson and West shine and are supported by a strong overall cast. Watch all 4 seasons now on Sky Box Sets.

The new season of this Sky Original thriller is airing now, so it’s a good time to catch up on the previous 2 outings. Fortitude revolves around a remote arctic town which holds a dark secret. When a horrific event rocks the town, the local sheriff must catch the killer before he strikes again.

Starring Christopher Eccleston and Sofie Grabol, Fortitude is one part Fargo and one part Twin Peaks to create a surreal and addictive crime thriller. The series is easily one of the best of Sky’s originals, offering an experience you won’t find anywhere else.

A Discovery of Witches

This adaptation based on the novel of the same name by Deborah Harkness follows a historian witch named Diana who falls in love with a vampire whilst looking for an ancient manuscript. A Discovery of Witches adds a clever twist to the supernatural romance stories that were popular a few years ago and is propped up by decent performances from Teresa Palmer and Matthew Goode.

Whilst some will find the premise a bit too “teen”, A Discovery of Witches remains an intriguing drama and one that the fans of the novels will truly relish in.

Big Little Lies

With a second season on the way in 2019, now is the ideal time to catch up on the show everyone was talking about when it first aired. Big Little Lies is based on the novel of the same name and stars Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley as 3 mothers in a wealthy part of California whose lives begin to unravel.

The original series was a smash-hit for HBO and Sky Atlantic, with millions coming up with theories about what would happen next. The show is filled with stunning performances (including a terrifying turn by Alexander Skarsgard) and a great musical score. Watch it now on Sky Box Sets.
