Twin Peaks’ biggest mysteries will be explained, series star Kyle MacLachlan has said.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor said that he and others who worked on the show anticipated audience reactions of confusion at the new season.
MacLachlan said that he knew some fans would be confused at what has proven to be an unfiltered version of director David Lynch’s vision and very different from the original Twin Peaks series.
“I think we all knew it was going to be a challenging journey for the audience, simply because it is 18 parts of one giant piece, and it’s sequential, so people really have to stay with it.
“And also that David’s storytelling is filled with imagery and different perspectives and characters and things that may initially be confusing to people, but ultimately everything will come back together and make sense. It will be clear. But it’s challenging, you know?”
The actor also noted that there were many fans who were pleased with the fact that Twin Peaks: The Return wasn’t just a nostalgia-fest.
“The other part of that is there has been a real, complete love from a large part of the audience for this new direction of Twin Peaks. No one has ever seen anything like this on television before.”
Twin Peaks: The Return follows on 27 years after the original series ended in 1990, with collaborators David Lynch and Mark Frost both returning to write and direct the show.
Fans have had mixed reactions to the series, due to its experimental and subversive nature.
You can watch both the original Twin Peaks and catch up on the new series on NOW TV right now.
