Adam Scott to join new Twilight Zone series
Scott will sit in Shatner's seat for the new series.
Adam Scott has signed on to star in the rebooted Twilight Zone series.
The new show, which will air on CBS All Access in the US, is being helmed by Jordon Peele, who’ll be lending his directorial talents alongside acting as the host/narrator.
Scott will star in a new version of the classic Twilight Zone story Nightmare at 20,000 Feet, which famously originally starred William Shatner, who is terrorised by a demon on the wing of a plane he’s in.
The actor is best known for his roles in sitcom Parks & Recreation and drama series Big Little Lies.
Nightmare at 20,000 Feet is probably the most famous of all the Twilight Zone episodes, having been remade and parodied a number of times in shows like The Simpsons.
The 1983 film version of The Twilight Zone featured an updated version of the story and starred John Lithgow.
This new version will be called Nightmare at 30,000 Feet - adding an extra 10,000 feet - probably to tune the episode to 2018 technology.
Jordan Peele will oversee the show’s production, with the writer and director earning his horror chops with 2017’s fantastic Get Out, which had the feel of a feature-length Twilight Zone episode.
With anthology shows like Black Mirror and Inside No. 9 being more popular than ever, now seems like the perfect time to bring back the original classic series.
The Twilight Zone will premiere in 2019. Despite there being no word on a UK release as of yet, the fact that CBS All Access show Star Trek: Discovery is shown on Netflix suggests that British audiences may end up seeing the show there.
