Agents of SHIELD and Once Upon a Time returning

ABC favourites are coming back this year.

Agents of SHIELD and Once Upon a Time have been renewed for new seasons.

The ABC shows have been renewed for the channel, with the Marvel superhero drama coming back for its 5th season.

US networks are currently in the process of renewing or cancelling some of their long-running shows, with series such as Sleepy Hollow not being so lucky.

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD is a spin-off series of the hugely successful superhero film franchise and follows the covert agency as they tackle threats to the world.

Its 5th season has been granted thanks to an upturn in viewers, though it is expected to have a smaller budget from now on.

The show will be joined by the new Marvel drama Inhumans, which is due to start at some point this year.

Once Upon a Time will also be returning for its 7th season, with the new episodes acting as a semi-reboot for the show.

The fantasy series sees real-life fairy tale characters inhabit the fictional US town of Storybrooke, Maine and stars Robert Carlyle as Rumpelstiltskin.

Agents of SHIELD and Once Upon a Time air in the UK on Channel 4 and Channel 5 respectively.

Netflix subscribers can catch up on Once Upon a Time right now.
