Alan Wake TV series in development

The cult-classic video game is potentially headed to TV.

A new TV series based on the video game Alan Wake is in the works.

The series is currently preparing to be pitched, with a number of different studios reportedly interested.

Alan Wake is a 2010 video game which was released on the Xbox 360 and PC and follows the titular character as he descends into madness whilst writing a novel in the small town of Bright Falls.

The game features the player using light combined with other weapons to fight enemies known as The Taken.

Alan Wake was created by game developer Remedy, which is also known for the Max Payne titles. The game features influences from shows like Twin Peaks and Stephen King novels, making it an ideal fit for a TV series.

The show is being developed by Contraction Films alongside Remedy, with the head of the studio Sam Lake acting as an executive producer.

In an interview, the developer said that the TV show will be going beyond the story of the game.

"We'll be expanding the lore of this crazy and dark universe and diving deeper into certain aspects of it than the game ever did.”

Alan Wake was planned to have a sequel, but this was eventually cancelled. It is thought that story ideas for the second game will make their way into the show.

Legion’s Peter Calloway will act as a showrunner for the series if it ends up being fully produced, another good fit thanks to that show’s trippy visuals and ideas.
