Amazon announces improved Fire TV Stick

Amazon has announced a new upgrade to its Fire TV Stick device that will make it more powerful.

Amazon has announced a new upgrade to its Fire TV Stick device that will make it more powerful.

The retail and streaming giant revealed that it would make the new version of the device more powerful than before, as well as giving it new functions.

This includes adding a quad-core processor and new WiFi antenna, allowing the stick to stream content faster and more reliably.

Amazon will also add its Alexa voice assistant to the device, which will be built into the remote control that is bundled with every Fire TV Stick.

The company claims that the new stick will be able to stream video 30% faster than last year's model, with the upgrades making a significant difference.

Despite the increase in power, Amazon has reassured customers that the cost of the Stick will stay the same, with it continuing to retail at around £35.

The Amazon Fire TV Stick acts as a portable version of Amazon's Fire TV device, and allows users to stream online content from various services, such as Amazon Prime Video, BBC iPlayer and All 4.

This plug-in-and-play device allows viewers without smart TVs to watch streaming content on standard televisions.

The Fire TV Stick doesn't yet support 4K or HDR streaming despite the improvements, with viewers who want to stream in ultra HD currently needing to buy the standard Fire TV device.

The new Amazon Fire TV Stick will be available from October 20th. Those interested in Amazon Prime Video can check out the latest offers on Digital TV.
