Amazon Prime's The Wilds to return in May

Season one ended on a cliffhanger which revealed that a similar experiment was taking place with a group of teenage boys.

The second season of Amazon’s YA survival drama The Wilds will premiere in May, the streaming platform has confirmed.

The show follows a group of teenage girls who are left stranded and fighting to survive on a deserted island after a plane crash.

They soon discover that they’re actually part of a social experiment engineered by scientist Gretchen (Rachel Griffiths) the head of the mysterious Dawn of Eve project.

Season 1 ended on a huge cliffhanger as one of the castaways Leah (Sarah Pidgeon) found out that there was another similar experiment occurring with a group of teenage boys stranded in a jungle.

These next ten episodes will expand their focus to explore the boys’ time in the wilderness as well as continuing to follow the girls’ efforts to escape the island.

Sophia Ali, Shannon Berry, Jenna Clause, Reign Edwards, Mia Heley, Helena Howard, Erana James and Pidgeon are all set to return as the core group of girls.

They’ll be joined by Zack Calderon, Aidan Laprete, Nicholas Coombe, Charles Alexander, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Reed Shannon, Tanner Ray Rook and Alex Fitzalan as the new group of boys.

The Wilds was created by Sarah Streicher, who was previously a writer on Netflix’s Daredevil, with Sex and the City co-producer Amy Harris serving as showrunner.

The entire first season of The Wilds is available to stream on Amazon Prime now.
