Amazon releases first teaser trailer for The Boys
The series is a much more violent and stylized take on the superhero genre.
Amazon has released the first teaser trailer for its upcoming superhero series The Boys.
Adapted from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s critically-acclaimed comic run of the same name, The Boys follows a group of hyper-violent vigilantes who team up to take down corrupt superheroes by any means necessary.
The cast is lead by Dredd’s Karl Urban and Jack Quaid as leader Billy Butcher and new recruit Hughie Campbell respectively.
Jennifer Esposito, Elisabeth Shue, Suicide Squad’s Karen Fukuhara, Anthony Starr, Jesse Usher and Gossip Girl’s Chance Crawford will also feature, alongside British actor Simon Pegg as Campbell’s father.
Following on from the success of the brilliantly over-the-top Preacher, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Supernatural creator Eric Kripke teamed up to develop the series.
10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg helmed the first episode.
A specific release date is not yet known, but the streaming giant has said it’ll arrive sometime in summer 2019.
The first three seasons of Preacher are available to stream on Amazon Prime now.
