AMC confirms The Terror season 2

The Terror will continue on AMC.

AMC has confirmed a second season of hit horror series The Terror.

The network, which also airs zombie series The Walking Dead, will continue the series by transitioning it into an anthology series.

Season 1 was based on the novel and followed the crew of the HMS Terror as they become marooned in the arctic seas.

The 10-episode season received much acclaim, with the creepy horror overtones blending with the historical fiction in a unique way.

Because of the standalone nature of The Terror, AMC has decided to turn the series into an anthology, meaning it will tell a different story every time.

This is due to the increasing popularity of anthology shows, with American Horror Story, American Crime Story, True Detective, Fargo and Black Mirror proving to be big hits.

Season 2 of The Terror will move the action to World War II and “centre on an uncanny spectre that menaces a Japanese-American community from its home in Southern California to the internment camps to the war in the Pacific.”

True Blood showrunner Alexander Woo will act as showrunner, with the idea for the series conceived by Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla writer Max Borenstein.

The writer mentioned that he was excited to use real-world events to tell a horror story.

“As a history-buff and genre geek (not to mention a conscious American today), it’s clear that truth is always scarier than fiction. This season of The Terror uses as its setting one of the darkest, most horrific moments in our nation’s history.

“The Japanese-American internment is a blemish on the nation’s conscience — and one with dire resonance to current events. I’m thrilled that AMC is giving us the chance to use that darkness as the inspiration for what I hope will be a trenchant, terrifying season of TV.”

The Terror is available to watch and stream on AMC if you’re a BT TV customer.
