American Horror Story renewed for 7th season

American Horror Story is due to return for a seventh series, studio heads at FX have confirmed.

FX Networks and Productions CEO said that the network was happy to move on a seventh series due to the popularity of the previous seasons.

“Ryan, Brad and their team of remarkable writers have done an amazing job of keeping American Horror Story endlessly inventive, shocking and entertaining, and we are honored to move ahead with them on the seventh instalment.”

"AHS confronts our deepest fears with unmatched suspense and style. Each new instalment is a cultural event, hotly anticipated for its theme, imagery, cast and twists.”

"We thank the creators and their team, the cast and everyone who has continued to make AHS such an extraordinary series."

American Horror Story has been running since 2011, with each series telling a different spooktacular story.

The cast of the show has remained consistent throughout the different seasons, with each playing a different character every time.

The most recent season, Roanoke, is based around the story of the American Roanoke Colony, and its mysterious disappearance in 1590.

Whilst it's unknown what the seventh season will be about, series creator Ryan Murphy has teased ideas that he has been working on, claiming he's writing a “secret season” with only one other writer.

The current season is 3 episodes into its 10 episode run, with the seventh season expected to air next year.

Viewers can catch American Horror Story: Roanoke Wednesdays at 10pm on Fox.
