Away cancelled by Netflix
The streamer has opted not to renew the show for season two.
Netflix has cancelled its sci-fi drama Away after one season.
The series starred Academy-Award winner Hilary Swank as NASA astronaut Emma Green the commander of the first manned mission to Mars.
It explores the complex relationship between the crew, particularly the tensions which arise after they deemed Green responsible for a fire breaking out, and the toll their absence is taking on their families back home.
Josh Charles, Vivian Wu, Mark Ivanir, Ato Essandoh, Ray Pathaki and Talitha Bateman round out the rest of the main cast.
The series received fairly average reviews from critics, sitting at a not terrible 59% on aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
Inspired by an Esquire article of the same name by Chris Jones, Away was created by Andrew Hinderaker. Its writers include The Path creator Jessica Goldberg, Ellen Fairey, Friday Night Lights’ Jason Katims and Janine Nabers.
It joins acclaimed wrestling comedy Glow, Teenage Bounty Hunters, The Society, Altered Carbon and I’m Not Okay With This as other shows recently cancelled by the streaming giant.
You can stream all ten episodes of Away on Netflix now.
