BBC releases Christmas schedule

The BBC has a bumper Christmas lineup in store.

The BBC has announced a number of shows that it will air over the Christmas period.

The lineup includes the new series of crime drama Luther alongside specials from Mrs. Brown’s Boys and the now traditional Doctor Who Christmas episode.

A new CGI-animated Watership Down is also on the cards as well as a non-musical version of Les Miserables starring Olivia Colman and Dominic West.

These shows will be spread across the Christmas period, airing up until New Year’s Day.

Doctor Who will be moved to NYD this year after previously being shown on Christmas Day.

This follows the first series of Jodie Whittaker's tenure as the Doctor, which has experienced average reviews but high viewing figures.

Other drama offerings include The ABC Murders, a Call the Midwife special and The Dead Room

For comedy, the Beeb is offering Michael McIntyre’s Big Christmas Show as well as a special live episode of Not Going Out, starring Lee Mack.

Viewers will also be able to catch the usual Christmas specials, including QI and a huge number of music documentaries on BBC Four.

You can catch up on Luther and Doctor Who on Netflix right now.
