BBC strikes new deal with FX

New Fox shows will appear on BBC channels and iPlayer.

The BBC has agreed on a new partnership with US network FX.

The US channel is home to shows such as Sons of Anarchy spin-off Mayans MC, Pose, Devs and the upcoming What We Do In The Shadows TV series.

All of these and more will now be broadcast on the BBC in some fashion, both on TV and via the iPlayer.

The BBC was already playing host to hits shows like Atlanta and American Crime Story in the UK, but will now take on the full roster of FX shows.

Whilst not confirmed yet, the deal also means that upcoming shows like Archer and X-Men spinoff Legion could make their way to iPlayer in the future.

Director of Content for the BBC, Charlotte Moore, said that the new partnership would expand the worldwide content BBC viewers could experience.

“The BBC has a proud tradition of bringing audiences the very best shows from around the world, and this exciting new partnership with FX builds on our strong existing relationship. Their incredible range of first-class drama and comedy series will be great for our channels and I’m delighted to be forging closer ties with FX and to formalise our relationship in this bold and exciting move.”

FX has its own channel in the UK, but is exclusive to cable TV, meaning that Freeview customers can tune in.

With this deal, BBC viewers can get in on the action, though you’ll still be able to watch a number of popular shows via Sky Box Sets and NOW TV Entertainment.

It creates a weird situation where you can choose to watch Atalanta season 2 on both NOW TV or BBC iPlayer, something that is not usually possible.
