Ben Wheatley to direct new zombie series
It'll serve as a "dark satire" on the disagreements between baby boomers and generation Z.
Kill List and High Rise director Ben Wheatley is to write and helm a new zombie TV series.
Titled Generation Z, its six episodes will follow a group of young people in a small ordinary town who have to battle against a group of flesh-hungry, undead pensioners.
Producer George Faber has described it as “using dark satire to skewer tensions between age groups and mirror the restive atmosphere of Brexit Britain.”
“Our heroes need to take on the old flesh-eating zombies who have stolen the resources and finally the flesh of the young,” he said.
“For this group of kids the zombie apocalypse is just another hurdle in their lives that they’ve got to get over.”
A cast has yet to be announced but the show will be shot next year for a release date of either late 2020 or 2021.
Generation Z will be Wheatley’s first major project for British TV since he directed two episodes of Doctor Who back in 2014.
