Bergerac to be rebooted
Bergerac is back...seriously.
A new Bergerac series is in the works thanks to Paramount.
The series, which ran on BBC between 1981 and 1991, followed the titular detective as he solved crimes in Jersey.
It starred John Nettles in the title role, who drove around the island in a famous burgundy Triumph Roadster.
Jill Offman, of Paramount, said that the new Bergerac would be part of the companies new roster of TV shows.
“We have several exciting dramas in development, one of which is the classic favourite Bergerac. Our hope is that we will be able to commission Bergerac as a full series for Paramount Network International.
“We’ve been trying to bring back Bergerac for some time and I’m very glad that we have the next generation of such an iconic show in development. Updated for the present day, it will deal with contemporary stories-of-the-week that run alongside a strong serial spine.”
The move comes in a recent wave of 80s properties being rebooted, with the Lethal Weapon series still running and a new trailer for slasher Child’s Play reboot being released.
