Black Mirror renewed for season 5

Black Mirror is coming back for another round of cyber shocks.

Black Mirror has been renewed for another season by Netflix.

The announcement was made by the official Black Mirror Twitter account, which tweeted out a cryptic video with the tagline “Be Right Back”.

This will be the 5th season of the show overall and the 3rd since streaming giant Netflix picked up the rights from Channel 4.

Season 4 of the show hit Netflix in late 2017 to largely critical praise, with the first episode - SS Callister - being a particular highlight.

Black Mirror is an anthology series that offers single-episode stories based around the perils - and sometimes joys - of technology.

Season 4 tackled topics such as dating apps, surveillance, killer robotic dogs and even the Black Mirror universe itself in a bizarrely self-referential final episode.

In classic Black Mirror style, no word has yet been given as to what season 5 will entail or when it will hit Netflix.

Season 4 was released suddenly at the end of last year with no prior release date announcement, so expect season 5 to arrive in much the same way.

Black Mirror is one of many Netflix Original series and films to hit the service in recent years, with a new season of House of Cards teased last week and new seasons of Marvel's Luke Cage and Jessica Jones expected this year.

You can watch all 4 seasons of Black Mirror on Netflix right now.
