Bodyguard creator has plans for more series
The Bodyguard could carry on guarding.
The creator of BBC’s Bodyguard has plans for 4 more series of the drama.
Jed Mercurio said in an interview with The Sun that he has planned out more episodes of the show, which finished its first series last night.
Whilst a follow-up series has not yet been confirmed, the writer said that another series would naturally lead to more.
"It's probably fair to say we would probably approach any thoughts of a second series with the idea that it would create an opportunity for a third or fourth.
"We do feel very privileged and fortunate that there's been such a response that it gives us that opportunity to at least think about doing more."
The primary mystery featured in Bodyguard has wrapped up with the end of series 1, leading some fans to think that any more series will feature a new case, not unlike Line of Duty - Mercurio’s other show.
When asked about Line of Duty, the creator said that series 5 was his entire focus until filming finishes.
"We're going to be shooting right up until a few days before Christmas and doing all our editing early in the New Year, so I'm full-time on Line of Duty.”
You can watch all of Bodyguard on BBC iPlayer now and stream the first 3 series of Line of Duty on Netflix.
